In The Devil’s Court. 1

It was dark and cold. Everything was black. It was unusually quiet. I panicked as I stared out the window. That was when I heard it. A slow and steady moan. I knew where it was coming from. Fear overcame me. I buried my head as deep as I could in my pillow. I began to hear the sound again. This time it was louder. I began to shiver. I stood on my bed straining my astigmatic eyes in search of my lamp. I fell down. I began to limp. I grasped my lamp. I switched it on and hurried to check on my younger sister. I opened my door. I saw a trail of blood. It came from the room of my younger sister. I saw her drenched in blood. She laid on the floor. I was in shock. I didn’t even realize I had dropped my lamp. I stood in open-souled amazement. I rushed to call my dad from his room but he hadn’t been back from work. I picked my lamp and rushed to Dr. Paul(a fellow tenant).
He came quickly to check on my sister. He was also gripped by fear. We both came closer to my sister. She had stabbed herself and ripped off her lips with a knife. She could say nothing. She was trying to drive the knife further into her abdomen. Her lips laid on the floor. They weren’t as sexy as they used to look on her. Dr. Paul and I were filled with horror and disgust. I was so scared to scream or utter a word.
Dr. Paul reached for his phone to call my dad. To our disbelieve we heard the phone ring. I led the way as we rushed to his room. He laid on the floor behind his bed. He was dead. His fingers, lips, tongue and genital were cut off. He was stabbed not once, not twice, not thrice but hundreds of time. I was nauseated by the sight. My head began to pound. It was obvious Talia, my sister had killed my Dad. Dr. Paul decided to call the police. Immediately, Talia crawled in and stabbed him at the back. He fell head-on and died. At this point I didn’t know what to do. Mom had died six years earlier. She killed herself. My dad was murdered by my sister and my sister, she was now dead .

I looked around, I saw blood everywhere. I was scared and felt hopeless. No father, no mother, no sister. We had no fortune. I was in a dilemma. I had nothing but a knife in my hand. I cut my veins. I felt the blood rush out . It was a very sweet pain. I was then cold dead. I wish I survived so I could do It over and over again. It felt very soothing.********. Now I’m in the devil’s court. I’m in hell. I have no life to take from myself. I have no knife in my hands either. I have all I ever wanted; family and new friends.
I’m done I guess. We all took turns to tell the story of how we got here. It’s John’s turn now.
